Reliability, Flexibility and Energy Efficiency: Why Daymark Invests in Bar Graphic Machinery
Looking forward to celebrating 50 years of operation in 2024, Daymark Ltd., the Kidderminster, UK-based label and tag printer, has positioned itself as a trusted provider of high-quality products and services to its many valued customers.
The label and tag industry has revolutionised over the past fifty years with technology providing many creative opportunities for label design and production. The company’s successful performance over this time has included investment in multiple Bar Graphic Machinery finishing solutions.
Jon Bird, Managing Director at Daymark, comments: “We’ve had a good long-term relationship with the team at Bar Graphic. It was a chance meeting in Yorkshire nearly ten years ago that led to us investing in two TT280 tabletop slitters and two Elite 410 iSR inspection slitter rewinders over the years.
“There are a number of reasons we really like Bar Graphic machines. First, the equipment they produce is well-engineered and reliable – this is key to our business. They also adapted one of the iSRs to help us with our pharmaceutical security printing work. They incorporated an inkjet head into the machine, which then enabled us to keep our printing speeds up in the main press shop. This was incredibly useful.
“Then, obviously, they are British made and we feel good about that. We also really like the fact the machines operate from a simple 13amp 230V plug. They are highly energy efficient, which is particularly useful in today’s inflationary market, and we have no need for an electrician on site. It really is ‘plug-n-play’ technology. They also have a small footprint, which is useful when we’re busy and get a bit space constrained.”
Daymark supplies labels and tags to the pharmaceutical, food, automotive, and chemical industries among others, and is moving into the production of new eco-labels for today’s businesses seeking to improve their environmental credentials.
“Whether it’s recyclable or compostable labels or labels based on newly developed sustainable materials, we’re getting used to operating with a whole host of new materials in the business, which can create some challenges. The Bar Graphic machines are always up to the job and, to be honest, we couldn’t do without them!”
Jon adds: “2022 was a record year for us and we’re challenged to do it again in 2023. We know that we get good support from Bar Graphic if we have any issues in meeting production goals. It’s pretty rare, to be honest, but being UK-based we know we can always get parts or have someone on-site quickly if we need it and that’s just one of the reasons why we would buy from Bar Graphic again.”
